The medical industry is increasingly adopting artificial intelligence (AI), remote monitoring and robotics technologies to improve patient care. It’s therefore more important than ever to select cables that can address a long list of application demands while handling the ever-increasing data transmission speed and volume. Not only must the cable meet its electrical and size requirements, it must be safe for patient contact and be able to withstand frequent cleaning, disinfection and handling, as well as abrasion, shock, impact and tampering.
With so many characteristics to look for, it can be hard to explore the various cable types, materials and accessories. Fortunately, our SABmed Line helps you check all the boxes when addressing your application’s cable requirements.
Jacket Materials for the Medical Market
SABmed Line cables are biocompatible to EN ISO 10993-1, highly flexible, non-kinking and overmolded to protect against fluids, scratches and impacts. Specially designed to withstand cleaning, disinfection and handling, they feature customizable materials to suit a variety of medical needs. The SABmed Line includes the following jacket types:
- SABmed S-Range. This silicone-based material provides a smooth surface, pliability and high-temperature resistance with autoclavability up to +134°C. UL-certified S-range power, data and bus connection cables are easy-to-grip and slide, and the nonstick jacket does not require a parabellum coating.
- SABmed T-Range. Featuring an increased resistance to indentation, this jacket is smoother and more flexible than PVC. The halogen-free material is ideal for sterilization as well as for a retractable spiral cable.
SABmed Line cables also offer:
- Low adhesion resistance.
- Temperature resistance to 90°C (SABmed T) and 180°C (SABmed S).
- RoHS compliance.
