Fairfield, NJ- With the HV 1000 C series, SAB one of the world's leading manufacturers of special cables, has developed new highly robust single-conductor (SC) and multi-conductor (MC) cables for high-voltage wiring in construction, agricultural, and special vehicles.

HV 1000 C- SC: The HV single-conductor, available in eight standard dimensions with nominal cross-sections from 6 mm2 to 95 mm2, meets the special requirements for safety and reliability in electrically or hybrid-driven utility vehicles. The multi-conductor version is available in dimensions from 2 x 2.50 mm² to 5 x 6.00 mm². Due to its high mechanical strength and resistance to environmental influences as well as its very good oil and temperature resistance, the HV single core solution designed for nominal voltages of up to 1,000 V AC/DC is suitable, for example, for the electrical connection of inverters and electric motors.

HV 1000 C – MC: The HV multi-conductor cable is used, for example, as a connecting cable to the cabin heater, the e-compressor or the HV heat pump in electric and hybrid vehicles. The double EMC-shielded high-voltage cables with bare copper stranding and orange colored TPE-U jacket have a low-temperature resistance down to -50°C according to DIN EN 60811-506 and withstand temperatures of up to +125°C for an operating time of up to 2,000 hours. The extremely tensile, abrasion and shear resistant outer jacket allows tight bending radii and, in many cases, eliminates the need for installation with additional protective tubing. Other quality and safety features include flame-retardant and self-extinguishing material properties in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 as well as standardized high resistance to mud, UV, ozone, and salt water. All materials are free of harmful substances and meet RoHS criteria. In addition to the standard designs, SAB also offers gauge sizes as well as jackets in other color variants on request.

Fairfield, NJ- As an expert for special cable solutions, SAB North America looks back on decades of experience in cable manufacturing. Every SAB product is engineered to meet the application requirements of different applications and industries. Our BL marine cables with ABS and DNV type approvals expand our cable range for ship and offshore applications.

Ballast water, necessary to counterbalance ships, is taken on board all over the ocean. For a safe and economic cruise every year, billions of tons of ballast water is spread in the sea. Together with this ballast water, unwanted passengers like fish, crabs, bacteria, and microbes are transported and released at the final destination.  In their new environment, they affect or even infect other animals resulting in considerable ecological and economic harm.

The IMO (International Marine Organization) worked on an international agreement that will limit or avoid such dangers, by requiring the control and management of ballast water and sediments of ships. The ballast water onboard each ship has to be cleaned and sterilized by special treatment systems so that it reaches the prescribed standard according to the agreements. Our cable materials and construction have been developed to meet international standards as well as our customer´s requirements.

For the wiring of technical equipment on ships SAB offers a range of cable products with DNV and ABS approvals. The products in our BL cable range include halogen-free, ethernet, data, control, and additional specialty cables for marine use.  See our product range or Download or Brochure.

E-Mobility testing requires a connection cable, component, and vehicle test bench so that testing can be performed. The high voltage rating of various components and power electronics require special cables designed to meet the requirements of the test engineers and the environment. In order to adapt the test items to the test bench, SAB has developed the B 110 C and B 110 C Sense cable that does not only fulfill the safety demands of a high voltage environment but also offers the user further advantages.

Outstanding features:

  • extremely flexible
  • halogen-free
  • good EMC characteristics
  • flexible at low temperatures
  • heat resistant
  • flame retardant and self-extinguishing
  • weather resistant

Fairfield, NJ- When your machine requires high-quality wire and cable, there are many standard products to fit the bill. But since no two applications are alike, you may naturally have specific needs that require more than just a standard cable. That’s why the cable supplier you choose should have the capability, expertise, and materials to create cables that ideally match the needs of your specific application.

Whatever the need may be, look to SAB North America for Special Cables that can, for example, help minimize maintenance costs and increase productivity, reduce downtime, and solve specific problems. Here is a small sample of some of the challenges that Special Cables from SAB North America can help address:

  • Hybrid Designs for multiple functions- In situations with space and budget constraints, a hybrid cable accommodates various functions like communications and control, fiber optics, power, pneumatics, and hydraulics. SAB North America can provide the engineering expertise to combine conductors and components into one solution.
  • Harsh Environments- Because cables must endure inhospitable environments, standard cables can be customized with the right materials to resist threats such as temperature extremes from -50°C to 200°C, tears and abrasions, oils, solvents, and flames.
  • Challenging applications- In many cases, cables must function reliably despite distinctive operating conditions such as high-speed data handling, unique motion and mechanical stresses in robotics and automated machines, reeling and pulley structures in hoists and transport systems, resistance to EMI and RFI in motors and drives as well as use with disinfectants and cleaning substances in medical and other sanitary environments.
  • Industries- SAB North America customizes Special Cables for a brersity of industries such as industrial automation, renewable energy, transportation, medical, and entertainment and amusements.

Special cables and hybrid cables can help solve design problems or perform in challenging operating environments where standard cables may fall short. SAB’s HV Measuring cable can be used in the field of electric vehicle development wherever a protected measurement and application up to 1000 V DC in a high-voltage environment is required. It can also be used with high-voltage power electronics, HV batteries, e-motors, inverters, etc. The HV measuring cables are used in test benches and vehicles.

These flexible cables have a wide temperature range of -40°C up to + 150°C. A special safety feature is the blue inner jacket and the robust outer jacket. Cables in test vehicles are often exposed to extreme mechanical and abrasion stress. If the orange outer jacket is worn through, the visible blue inner jacket signals that the operational safety of the cable will not be guaranteed much longer and that the cable must be changed. The two black longitudinal stripes identify the cable clearly as a measuring cable that doesn't belong to the basic equipment of the vehicle and is used for testing purposes only.
